This rustic and charming Arts and Crafts style log home, was designed and lovingly crafted in the 1920s by The Chicago Art Institute professor and painter Fredrick deForrest Schook. The beautiful, two-story home with dormers and brightly colored trim, including shutters with original painted artwork, are historical and whimsical at the same time. Like other cabins on Chapel Lane, it represents a significant piece of Door County history, and offers a unique and cozy getaway experience.
Accommodating up to 6 guests (4 in the main house, 2 in the bunk house), the home includes a king-sized master bed in the main bedroom upstairs, a cozy sleeping loft with a double bed and a double pull-out sofa downstairs. There is an additional attached bunk house with handcrafted bunk beds. You’ll find one full bath with a tub and shower on the first floor, plus a second bath with shower upstairs.
For meals, you’ll find a simple yet functional kitchen with a breakfast nook that comfortably seats six. If you prefer dining outdoors, there is also a freestanding outdoor screened room.
Enjoy the serene beauty of Lake Michigan from the gorgeous stone porch and expansive lawn, perfect for relaxation and taking in the view.
For those looking to explore, you’re just a short walk away from Bijorklundun to watch a performance of Door Shakespeare, or turn the other direction to walk to downtown Baileys Harbor with its charming shops and restaurants, a playground, town pier, and waterfront.
Take a quick bicycle ride or drive to Anclam Park beach or explore nature by visiting The Ridges Sanctuary, or visit Cana Island Lighthouse. Venture further afield with ease, as our location offers easy access to Cave Point, Whitefish Dunes, and neighboring towns such as Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Fish Creek, and other Door County gems. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate Maxwelton Braes, and multiple other golf courses nearby.
